2021 Estate Syrah
Our single clone estate Syrah is planted on the two warmest blocks in our vineyard, which is ideally suited for this heat-loving Rhone Varietal. It was picked on October 14th, 2021 and yielded 1 ton per acre.
The fruit was partially destemmed (2/3) and whole cluster/whole berry fermentation started with a Mediterranean yeast in open top fermentors. The wine was gently pressed off the skins and aged in French Oak (25% new) for approximately 11 months prior to bottling. Unfined and unfiltered.
Classic Rhone profile. On the nose: vibrant notes of black raspberry, fieldberry, fresh rain on a dusty gravel road and a touch of pepper. On the palate: rich and velvety, full bodied with notes of desert scrub, red berries, plum, baked pie crust and cured meat.
